The City of Vallejo will launch its redistricting process with the first of four public hearings scheduled to take place on June 22, 2021, at 8:00 pm during the regular City Council Meeting on Zoom.

Every 10 years, local governments use new data from the Census to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. Members of the Vallejo community are invited to participate in the redistricting process to help make sure district lines are developed consistently with legally-required criteria such as adherence to federal and state Voting Rights Act.

To help share information about redistricting and collect public feedback, the City of Vallejo has launched a dedicated redistricting website: MapVallejo.org.

The new website includes background information on redistricting, a tentative schedule of participation opportunities, frequently asked questions, information on communities of interest, and resources for drafting maps and sharing feedback on previously-drawn maps. While final U.S. Census data is not yet available, the public will have an opportunity to begin using online mapping tools in early July with available population estimates. Final data from the U.S. Census and State of California is expected to be available by October.

As the redistricting process moves forward, the City will continue to update the website to include additional details on public hearings and workshops, map drawing opportunities, new FAQs, and more.

For more information, visit the website at MapVallejo.org and subscribe to the mailing list to receive updates and information about the redistricting process at MapVallejo.org/contact or by emailing MapVallejo@cityofvallejo.net.
